About Netherton Foundry

Netherton Foundry is a family possessed business located in South Shropshire. We sit right in the motherland of the Industrial Revolution. This was the 18th Century's" Silicon Valley". moment the heavy iron and coal diligence are each but a distant memory and, for the utmost part, this corner of pastoral England has returned to an important quieter way of life. At Netherton Foundry, we've been inspired by the 18th and 19th centuries' Shropshire Iron masters, especially Abraham Darby, creator of the original iron ground. We wish to look again at the values that inspired this amazing period of creativity and energy. Over the times we've come more and more interested in the provenance of the accoutrements we use. Our ideal is to make quality products made from accoutrements basically sourced in Shropshire and its neighboring counties. In our own small way, we're committed to reducing our impact on this fragile earth by erecting products that will last, from accoutrements we trust.

Why our spun black iron & cast iron cookware is special.

Serious culinarians love the way that black iron pans toast unevenly & give great cuisine performance. They're perfect for range ranges, open fires, wood burning ranges, electric, gas, ceramic, halogen & induction devilishness (heat up sluggishly to keep flat). Our spun iron pans are about half the weight of cast iron simply because we can spin the black iron important thinner than we cast it, yet still retain the great thermal parcels of iron. To judge the size, you need, we measure our pans across the top hem of the visage to describe the size. Each visage is hand- made by handicraftsmen in our own shops in England, and if your visage has oak handles, the grain on every piece is unique and each bone is ingrained by hand. Our pans are like fingerprints; no two are identical. Your visage will develop with use and, if watched for, will progress beautifully and be a friend for life.

What's seasoning?

Seasoning is the black/ brown coating on the face of iron pans. Seasoning stops erosion, food tainting & makes the visage easier to clean. We don't use chemical coatings similar as PTFE & PFOA's. thus our pans don't have the implicit health troubles from poisonous smothers associated with high temperature cuisine seen on numerous chemically carpeted cookware particulars. All our cookware ispre-seasoned at a high temperature with natural organic flax oil painting, which creates a durable, non-greasy Easy Clean Coating. However, you just need tore-season the visage, If the coating becomes worn or damaged.

Re-seasoning at home.

Follow this system for all cookware except woks with wood handles & cooking irons. Watch YouTube Video Re-seasoning Netherton Foundry cast iron cookware with flax oil painting. Cover all shells of iron with a veritably thin coating of flax oil painting using a cotton cloth. A thin coating gives the stylish results, wipe again with a cotton cloth after coating. Leave no runs or pools of oil painting, just leave an unctuous sub caste on the face of the essence. Place on a rack in roaster. sluggishly toast the roaster to MAX (roughly 250ºC/ 400ºF or Gas Mark9/10). Once the roaster is over to temperature, maintain the temperature for 40 to 60 mins. Switch off the roaster, allow to cool sluggishly.
